Education
WWU Münster’s 37,000 students make it the third biggest university in Germany. One important argument for students’ decision to study at the WWU is the high quality teaching on offer.
Broad portfolio
130 courses of study offer students a broad portfolio of options. The increasing internationalisation of courses of study and the use of modern information technology in teaching offer students optimum preparation for the requirements of the global job market.
High success rate
A total of 5,500 graduates a year are testimony to the good teaching provided by the WWU – something which the German Science Council (Wissenschaftsrat) itself has also confirmed. WWU compares favourably with other universities not only as regards the length of courses of study but also with a view to success rates. WWU Münster confers about 800 PhDs a year, making it one of the five most important insititutions in Germany for producing junior research staff.
Bologna implemented
The WWU has completed the changeover of most of its basic courses of study to bachelor/masters structures – also for teacher training. The development of programmes for structured PhD courses represents the next step in the realisation of the objectives set out in the Bologna process. Against this background, coordinated programmes for graduate training will acquire a special status.
Promotion of Graduates
Coordinated programmes for graduate training are currently run in three formats: Postgraduate Groups sponsored by the DFG (German Research Foundation), Graduate Schools and Junior Staff Groups.
